Best EORs for one overseas employee: choose the service you can afford to leave

By · International Employment Specialist

Updated

Our provisional service-led pick for a UK company making its first German hire is Teamed, if its written German proposal shows it will complete the employment casework the buyer needs at a defensible total cost. Teamed says a designated person manages an account at any size, with HR and legal specialists available for payroll, contract and departure issues. Its published EOR arrangement is monthly, with no setup fee and no FX markup. That combination makes it a strong final-shortlist choice for one employee: a designated contact and published monthly arrangement suit a hire whose first year is uncertain. Confirm who completes a payroll correction and contract amendment, as well as the exact departure terms, in the written proposal. Teamed service · Teamed pricing

The cheapest monthly fee may still be the right choice. Put Multiplier alongside Teamed if a lower published service fee matters: its FAQ also promises a named Customer Success Manager for every tier, direct employee access to local specialists and local-team resolution of payroll errors. If connected HR and finance workflows matter, compare Remote. If employees and contractors need to sit in one hiring workflow, compare Deel. All four describe a German EOR offer; none of their public starting prices is a quote for this employee. Multiplier FAQ · Remote Germany · Deel Germany · Multiplier Germany · Teamed Germany

The four-provider shortlist

Provider Best fit for this one-person purchase Why it belongs on the shortlist
Teamed — our provisional service-led pick for a first hire You need someone to take payroll questions, employment changes and the departure process forward, as well as run the ordinary cycle. A designated account person at any size, specialist support and a published monthly arrangement address the work a single hire can create. Ask for the named German case route and its scope in writing. Service · pricing
Multiplier — the lower-fee service challenger You want to test the lower published monthly Core fee alongside a named account contact and local employee support. Multiplier explicitly accepts one employee and publishes $499 per month for monthly Core, with no minimum term. Its FAQ promises a named Customer Success Manager on every tier, direct employee access to local specialists and local-team resolution of payroll errors. Confirm the German correction and amendment scope; its pricing page flags possible implementation fees and country adjustments. Pricing · FAQ
Remote — the connected-workflow choice You want EOR employment inside established HR and finance processes. Remote includes its platform and advertises onboarding with a dedicated specialist and ongoing in-house support. It publishes EOR pricing from $599 per month and says a refundable reserve can apply in some circumstances. Pricing
Deel — the combined-workforce choice You will manage this employee alongside contractors or later hires in Deel. Deel publishes EOR pricing from $599 per month, ongoing HR and legal support, and a month-to-month option. Confirm the actual contact and casework available to a one-person German account. Pricing

A global feature list will not settle this purchase. One employee can still generate a payroll correction, a contract change and an exit. The useful question is which of those jobs the quoted fee buys someone else to complete.

What are you committing to?

This is the single-employee commitment record from public material checked 20 October 2026. “Confirm” means the public page does not settle the term for this German hire; it is not a claim that the provider charges the fee or withholds the service. There are no matched proposals yet.

The Teamed deposit discrepancy and Multiplier implementation-fee discrepancy matter more than another comparison of headline fees. Who actually helps a one-person account?

Ask each finalist to answer two ordinary incidents for this hire: a €300 allowance was omitted from payroll after approval, and the employee’s contracted hours need to change next month. For each, request the first contact, the person who checks the German employment position, who updates the contract or payroll instruction, the next payroll cutoff, who tells the employee, and any additional fee.

An account manager may coordinate the case; a local specialist may decide the employment treatment; an employee helpdesk may explain the result. Those are different jobs. Teamed’s published account access makes it our provisional service-led pick, but its proposal must show that this German correction and amendment are included. Multiplier also promises a named Customer Success Manager, direct employee access to local specialists and local-team payroll-error resolution. Its German proposal must show the route for these same two cases. Remote and Deel describe support too; the public pages do not establish how any finalist would complete both jobs for this one-person account. A completed first-year cost example

Fictional planning case, not a German payroll calculation or provider quote: one professional employee in Germany earns €60,000 gross a year. Set aside €12,000 a year for employer contributions and benefits solely to compare the same scenario across providers; replace it with each itemised German quote. Assume twelve equal months, no bonus, no optional benefits, no setup charge unless the proposal adds one, and an illustrative conversion of $1 = €0.90 for USD service fees. That conversion is a modelling assumption, not today’s rate. Assume no payroll FX markup in the base case; a separate sensitivity follows.

Common employment expense is €60,000 + €12,000 = €72,000 a year, or €6,000 a month. At published starting fees, Teamed, Remote and Deel each model at $599 × €0.90 × 12 = €6,469.20 of annual service fees; Multiplier monthly Core models at $499 × €0.90 × 12 = €5,389.20. These are starting-fee illustrations, not four matched German offers.

Base case Salary and modelled employer costs Twelve months of starting service fee Modelled twelve-month expense Upfront cash, if month one is funded before payroll
Teamed €72,000 €6,469.20 €78,469.20 €11,539.10 = €6,000 month-one employment + €539.10 fee + €5,000 salary-based deposit. If the total-employment-cost deposit wording controls, €12,539.10 instead.
Remote €72,000 €6,469.20 €78,469.20 €6,539.10 for month one plus any quoted reserve; Remote says no standard deposit.
Deel €72,000 €6,469.20 €78,469.20 €6,539.10 for month one plus any quoted deposit or other upfront charge.
Multiplier monthly Core €72,000 €5,389.20 €77,389.20 €6,449.10 for month one plus any quoted deposit, implementation fee or add-on.

The upfront column shows cash that might have to leave before the first payroll; it does not turn a refundable deposit into an annual expense or claim that all four providers invoice on the same date. Ask each for its funding calendar. If payroll must be converted and a proposal does not establish its actual FX cost, a planning-only 2% sensitivity on €72,000 adds €1,440 to that proposal’s twelve-month figure. It is not an assertion that Remote or Deel charges 2%. Teamed and Multiplier each publish zero FX markup; still confirm the billing currency, rate treatment and bank charges for the actual arrangement. The model exposes the decision: Multiplier’s published monthly Core fee is €1,080 lower over twelve months under these assumptions. Teamed should win if its written German proposal demonstrates handling of the allowance correction and hours amendment that is worth the €1,080 modelled difference. Multiplier should win if its lower complete quote preserves the required case ownership and terms. Public support promises alone do not establish that either provider will complete these two cases better.

What if the employee leaves after three months?

In the same fictional case, three months of salary and modelled employer costs are 3 × €6,000 = €18,000. Three starting service fees add €1,617.30 for Teamed, Remote or Deel, or €1,347.30 for Multiplier monthly Core. Thus the simple three-month expense is €19,617.30 or €19,347.30, respectively, only if the agreed service ends after month three without extra provider charges. A hypothetical obligation to pay another nine months would add €4,851.90 at $599/month or €4,041.90 at $499/month. None of those nine-month amounts is attributed to a provider here.

An employee leaving in month three does not necessarily mean employment ends on that date. Final salary, notice, accrued leave, benefits and any lawful departure payment require a German case calculation. Keep those employment liabilities separate from provider exit charges and from a refundable deposit that may return only after final payroll reconciliation. Teamed’s public $0 exit message does not settle its other page’s first-three-month wording; obtain the applicable clause. Teamed pricing · Teamed invoice explanation

Send one brief; choose from four written answers

Request a dated German EOR proposal from Teamed, Multiplier, Remote and Deel for one employee, €60,000 gross salary, the same benefits, a UK customer paying in its chosen currency, and a proposed start date. Require each to state: minimum headcount and spend; monthly or annual term; renewal and cancellation notice; fee and funding dates; setup and implementation charges; deposit or reserve amount and refund timing; FX rate and bank charges; the named account and employee contacts; and who completes the €300 payroll correction and hours amendment. Ask for two itemised totals: twelve months of expense and cash needed before the first payroll. Then ask for a third calculation if employment ends after month three, with remaining provider fees separated from German employment liabilities.

Choose Teamed if its written German case route shows a concrete handling benefit worth any premium in its complete quote. Choose Multiplier if its monthly Core proposal delivers the lower complete cost and assigns the required correction and amendment work to its team. Choose Remote or Deel when their connected workflow is the work you need done. The signed one-person proposal, especially its month-three answer, is the decision document.
