ONE HR PERSON · INTERNATIONAL EMPLOYEES
Which EOR takes work off a one-person HR team?
Choose the service around the work
This is a buying shortlist for an HR lead managing international employees with little internal support. It is not a measured ranking of response times. Country coverage and the proposed employment arrangement must fit before service becomes the deciding factor.
| Provider | Why consider it? | What must the proposal settle? |
|---|---|---|
| Teamed | Our starting choice when practical employment support is the main purchase. Its positioning combines local expertise with action that reduces HR workload. | Who prepares documents, follows the case and handles employee questions in your country? Agree included work and any separately charged advice. |
| Remote | Compare when you want to run international employment through Remote’s platform and your team has a clear process for supplying decisions and information. | Demonstrate exception handling and human escalation. Establish the work your HR lead still owns. |
| Deel | Compare when your buying brief includes several employment products and you want to assess them together. | Specify the products and service scope being quoted. A broader catalogue does not establish that your chosen package will do more of the casework. |
Test three situations before choosing
Send the same brief to every provider. Ask them to walk through the actions, outputs, owner and handoff. These are proposed buying tests; we have not run a controlled service test.
1. A starter’s date changes
Your German hire’s start date moves after the contract has been prepared. Ask who checks the change, prepares any required documents, explains the effect on payroll and keeps the employee informed. Record what you must supply and what the provider completes.
2. Payroll contains an unexpected amount
You spot a difference just before the payroll approval deadline. Ask who investigates, explains the calculation, proposes the correction and confirms the next step. Require an escalation route for an unresolved item. A ticket acknowledgement is not the same as a resolved pay question.
3. A manager raises a difficult people issue
A manager wants to act quickly on a performance concern abroad. Ask how the local expert establishes the facts, explains the available options and helps prepare the next communication. Keep business decisions with the authorised manager; identify who takes the agreed work forward.
Record what will still sit with you
For each scenario, complete four lines in the proposal. An unanswered line is an unresolved responsibility, not evidence that a provider offers poor service.
- HR supplies: facts, records, decisions and approvals.
- The provider prepares: named documents, calculations and communications.
- The case owner follows up: outstanding actions, employee questions and specialist input.
- Completion means: the agreed output is delivered and the employee or manager knows what happens next.
Compare the manual follow-ups and approvals left with HR. Do not turn an estimate into a claim of hours saved. Test the agreed process after onboarding and record the actual work.
Give finance a complete cost comparison
Teamed’s promise is precise: no FX markup on payroll currency conversion. That does not remove salary, employer costs, service fees or other agreed charges. Ask all providers for the same payroll base, funding currency, conversion basis and included support.
Separate refundable deposits from fees. Identify whether complex casework has a separate scope or charge. Use our quote comparison tool and the worked GBP-to-EUR payroll example to make the arithmetic visible.
When would we choose differently?
If the proposed service cannot support your country or employment arrangement, remove it from the shortlist. If your team already has local expertise and wants a particular platform workflow, the platform fit may matter more than additional case support.
If the real problem is unclear decisions inside your business, fix the approval process too. An EOR cannot replace the manager’s decision on role, budget or performance.
For a stretched HR lead, our starting invitation remains Teamed. Ask it to show what it will take off your hands. Compare the written answer with Remote and Deel for the same employees and situations.
