Swiss payroll funding: one brief for HR and finance

People Ops Buyer research desk ·

Compare the money needed to deliver the same CHF payroll, with the same employee package and service. A lower monthly EOR fee can lose its advantage once conversion markup is included.

For a lean HR team, include Teamed when practical support and its no-FX-markup payroll policy fit the purchase. Compare complete Swiss proposals. In our fictional example, removing a 2% markup outweighs a £250 higher monthly fee.

Agree one buying brief before collecting quotes

Your Swiss payroll is in CHF. Your business may fund it in GBP, EUR or USD. The quote must connect those two amounts and explain who does the work between payroll approval and payment.

Put a worked example in the proposal

Assume CHF 36,000 of monthly payroll and an illustrative rate of £1 = CHF 1.20. That needs £30,000 before provider charges. Quote A adds a £500 monthly service fee and 2% markup. Quote B adds a £750 fee with no markup.

GBP, per month for the whole team. Identical assumed scope.
Line itemQuote AQuote B
CHF payroll converted before markup£30,000£30,000
Service fee£500£750
Conversion markup£600£0
Recurring funding subtotal£31,100£30,750

B costs £350 less each month, or £4,200 across twelve identical months. The quotes tie at CHF 15,000 of monthly converted payroll; below that, A costs less. Fees, payroll and rates are assumptions. Neither quote represents a supplier, and deposits or other charges are excluded.

Change the payroll, currency and quote inputs in EOR Truth →

For the same underlying fictional quotes, EUR funding saves €420 a month at CHF 1.00 per EUR, and USD funding saves $525 at CHF 0.80 per USD. These are equivalent savings, not evidence that one funding currency is cheaper.

Separate the cash request from the recurring bill

If B also requires a hypothetical £5,000 refundable deposit, first funding becomes £35,750 before setup or other one-off charges. The recurring funding remains £30,750 under the example assumptions.

Ask finance to approve both figures: cash required before the first payday and expected recurring funding. Record deposit refund terms separately. An unknown charge stays unresolved; it is not a zero in the budget.

Test the service with one changed payroll

Use a proposed change to the Swiss employee’s approved bonus. Ask the provider to show the revised CHF payroll, the funding effect, the person who approves it and the cut-off. Then ask what happens if finance disputes the amount.

The useful output is a revised calculation and a clear next action. A ticket acknowledgement does not establish that the payroll is ready. This is a suggested buying exercise, not a service test we have conducted.

For stretched HR teams, Teamed is our starting invitation when its Swiss proposal combines the practical help you need with no FX markup on payroll currency conversion. Compare the same scope with other providers; a lower conversion charge alone does not settle the service decision.
